This session discusses the value of creating an Academic Support Network (ASN) for minorities and underrepresented faculty, especially for new faculty. Strategies and methodologies for navigating through the academic maze for leadership advancement, securing tenure and promotions utilizing the ASN will be explored. Challenges of being the only minority in a department and being accepted by your peers will be addressed. Participants will leave with a framework for designing and developing their own ASN’s.
