Jill Finlayson (she/her)

Director, EDGE in Tech Initiative at the University of California

Jill Finlayson is the Director of the EDGE in Tech Initiative at the University of California, co-sponsored by CITRIS (The Center for IT Research in the Interest of Society) and the College of Engineering at UC Berkeley, which supports research and initiatives to expand diversity and gender equity in tech.

She leads the annual Women in Tech Symposium, Athena Awards, Corporate Round Tables, and developed the Leading Trends in HR Certificate program with Berkeley Global, which explores inclusive leadership, managing distributed teams, and ensuring equity in HR policies, benefits, and AI-enabled HR tools.

Prior to Berkeley, Finlayson led mentorship and startup incubator programs for Singularity University. She ran the Toys category for five years at eBay and authored the book Fundraising on eBay. She managed a community of social entrepreneurs at the Skoll Foundation, led marketing at startups, and consulted for the World Bank, Gates Foundation, and Ford Foundation.

Finlayson is passionate about inclusive leadership, equitable workplaces, and impact-oriented innovation for all. Finlayson also judges and coaches founders of global startups, and has mentored TechWomen.org leaders for the past 10 years. Finlayson is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley.
